Our Vision
At Sunshine Montessori, our vision is to nurture every child’s unique potential and lay the foundation for a lifetime of joyful learning.
We achieve this by grounding our educational approach in a deep understanding of brain development during the critical first five years of life. This is paired with a culture of kindness — extended not only to the children in our care, but also to their families and to the dedicated team who make our nursery a special place.
Every day, we strive to create rich, meaningful experiences and carefully prepared environments that spark curiosity, build confidence, and give each child the freedom and support to thrive.
Our Values
At Sunshine Montessori, we believe that children learn best when they feel secure enough to take risks, make mistakes, and try again. We see failure as an essential part of growth — not something to be avoided, but embraced. This belief shapes the way we teach, connect, and guide, and it is reflected in the values we live by every day.
Kindness
Kindness is at the heart of our nursery. We model it through warm, respectful interactions and by creating a culture of empathy and understanding. In this environment, children learn to recognise and respond to the feelings of others, to offer comfort, share joy, and build friendships rooted in care and compassion. Kindness becomes something they give freely, not just something they receive.
Respect
Respect is something we show in every moment — by truly listening to children, valuing their ideas, and encouraging independence. Children learn that their thoughts and choices matter, and in turn, they begin to show that same respect to others. They learn to take turns, use kind words, care for shared spaces, and understand that differences are something to be appreciated.
Striving for the Exceptional
We aim high — not in pressure or perfection, but in the belief that every child can achieve amazing things. Our team models a love of learning, a reflective approach, and a willingness to grow. Children see that effort is celebrated and mistakes are part of the process. They begin to take pride in their own progress, try new things without fear, and persevere through challenges with increasing confidence and joy.
“Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul”
— Frederich Froebel
Our Educational Approach
At the heart of our curriculum is the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, which guides both whatchildren learn and how they learn. We are proud to align with the principles of Development Matters, which emphasises that learning should be both meaningful and joyful. Children thrive when they are given space to explore independently, alongside sensitive support from adults who know just when to step in and scaffold new skills.
Our curriculum is carefully tailored to each unique cohort, shaped by the children’s interests, needs, and next steps. We observe, reflect, and adapt regularly to ensure that every child’s experience is relevant, motivating, and developmentally appropriate.
We make the most of our beautiful natural surroundings, using the outdoor environment to enhance our teaching across all areas of learning. Whether it’s exploring seasonal changes, storytelling in woodland spaces, or developing physical skills in the open air, nature plays a vital role in sparking curiosity and deepening understanding.
Our approach combines individually planned, purposeful activities with rich opportunities for child-led play and discovery. We believe in nurturing each child’s natural curiosity by creating stimulating environments full of open-ended resources and thoughtful provocations. These spaces are designed to inspire exploration, creativity, and critical thinking—helping every child grow in confidence and ability.
Through this balance of structure and freedom, we support children to develop the skills, knowledge, and love of learning that will stay with them far beyond their time with us.
"We are continually thankful for the opportunities Sunshine provide for learning that go above and beyond our expectations”
